Funding - Scholarships

This application will allow you to be considered for the Graduate Studies Scholarships and Endowed Scholarships for Graduate Students.

  • Be accepted to a degree or certificate seeking program
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Meet minimum enrollment requirements.
    • At least 6 hours of graduate level courses during the fall and spring semesters.
    • Three (3) hours of graduate level courses during the combined summer term.
    • Some scholarships may require full time enrollment.
    • PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship recipients in the College of Science and Engineering must enroll in 9 SCH during regular semesters and 3 SCH during the combined summer term.

  • Upon submission, your application will be reviewed by the appropriate committee and ranked based on your GPA, academic record, essay, evidence of leadership, research and/or other accomplishments related to your degree and other criteria.

Note: Scholarships will be awarded based on the grades received by the review date. Number of awards and amounts are subject to availability.

  • You will receive an email notification of your status approximately 2-5 weeks after the scholarship deadline to the email address provided on your application.
  • Scholarships can be awarded for one semester, one academic year (annual scholarships) or multiple years.
  • Multi-year scholarships are non-renewable and time limits are based on the type of graduate program:
    • 2 year scholarships: students in 30-41 SCH master programs.
    • 3 year scholarships: students in 42+ SCH master programs.
    • 4 year scholarships: students in terminal degree programs.
    • Scholarships funds will be disbursed throughout the academic year. For example, if you are awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the academic year, you will receive $500 in the fall semester and $500 in the spring semester.
    • Incoming students not awarded multi-year scholarships and current students may be considered for annual scholarships. These annual scholarships are renewable, but limited to two (2) academic years for Master's students in 30-41 SCH programs, three (3) academic years for Master's students in 42+ SCH programs, and four (4) academic years for Terminal Degree students.
  • You can view any financial aid and scholarships that are offered to you (after you are accepted) in your SAIL account.
  • Scholarship monies are automatically applied to your tuition bill and generally posted the day before tuition is due. Refunds are coordinated through our University's Business Office and processed through the Higher One Easy Refund Card.

How do I know if I'm eligible to apply?

You are eligible to apply for a scholarship if you are a new or returning graduate student in a degree or certificate program.

What requirements do I have to meet to be awarded a scholarship?

Students must at least meet these requirements to be awarded a scholarship:

Do I have to be admitted to the University prior to applying for scholarships?

No - you can apply for a scholarship once you have received your Student Id. However, you will not be awarded a scholarship unless you have been admitted.

How will I be notified if I am/am not awarded a scholarship?

You will receive an email notification of your status approximately 2-5 weeks after the scholarship deadline to the email address provided on your application. Also, you can view any financial aid and scholarships that are offered to you (after you are accepted) in your SAIL account

What if I don't submit my scholarship application by the deadline?

Scholarship applications must be submitted by the end of business day of posted deadline. If additional scholarship funds are made available to any program, prospective applicants will be notified of same.

How can I find out what other scholarships/funding are available to Graduate Students?
  • Completing the scholarship application on the Graduate Studies website will allow you to be considered for most donor based scholarships if funding becomes available. However, links for alternate scholarships will be posted on our Home page or the Scholarships website when available.
