Dr. Thomas Shirley, Endowed Chair at the Harte Research Institute, and Dr. Wes Tunnell, Endowed Chair for Biodiversity and Conservation Science and Professor Emeritus at the Harte Research Institute, were both parts of a collaborative study done along with Rice University that may have unlocked some new information about sea level changes linked to global warming

"We got out to the reef for our first monitoring a couple of weeks after Hurricane Harvey," Pollack said. "The reef was still there and we've seen a new set of larval baby oysters already attached onto this oyster reef."
