Dr. Marvarene Oliver is currently serving as the Interim Associate Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. She is also a Professor in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology. Within her academic department, she serves as the Clinical Coordinator and coordinates the marriage, couple, and family program emphasis.
Dr. Oliver has extensive experience in providing individual, couple, and family psychotherapy as well as supervision of Licensed Professional Counselor-Interns and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associates. In addition to holding the LPC-Supervisor and LMFT-Supervisor licenses in the State of Texas, she is an Approved Supervisor for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She is currently the Past-President of AAMFT. In addition to holding state and national offices in professional associations, she served as the Chair of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists for a number of years.
She is author/co-author of book chapters and scholarly articles related to counseling and marriage and family therapy. She regularly provides national and state presentations on professional topics. Areas of research center primarily on supervision, ethics, and theory-to-practice.
